Hi guys,

Yeah, yeah, I know I said I would stay away for a while, but what can I say. This was too good to pass up on. :D

Stumbled across some interesting info about Mercury's new propeller, Enertia. Here are a few links.

Mercury news release thread

Walleyehed, if you can lay your hands on a 22P of one one these, I'll gladly buy it from you once you've tested it out (please drop me an e-mail if you do).

I've got some good info on the enertia, stevens..the material of which it is made of is the most unique.
Merc is spending a tremendous amount of time on props and with the flo-torq hub systems, things could get interesting if the price stays down..

stevens, I talked with Merc's general manager of the propellor division and he says the enertia should add about 2mph over any other prop on the market, and is targeting large, single outboard, off-shore type rigs.
Seems to be some very nice folks at Merc, and if I play my cards right, I "may" get to test one. :D

Sound like every other prop ad I have ever read. I sure would like to see a test performed by a non-affiliated 2nd party.

Re: Info on Mercury's new Enertia prop

See this other thread: link, and this one: link2 for some good info. Mr. 'License To Thrill' says:

The new "Enertia" X7 alloy props will come out in three blade form, then in the next six months the whole Merc propeller line will change over to this harder, denser stainless steel alloy.
If so, wouldn't they all have to be redesigned to take advantage of the new alloy? (slimmer blades, etc.)

I "HAD" a response here stevens, but the server must have crashed when I submitted it....????
This process will allow some great performance with thinner blades, and will change some of the "Rules" we go by now. Don't tell anyone you heard this from me, but I'm quite impressed with what Merc's prop division is doing right now.
