info on repowering

i just picked up an 18' cobia sportster with a 120? 140? i/o. i bought the boat with a blown motor. im new to boats (im a car guy) so im looking for any info on repowering this boat maybe with a newer v-6 maybe v-8 if it can handle it. any motors that might bolt right in. does anymotor with the right bellhousing bolt to my outdrive? im clueless when it comes to this. any help would be great.

the only motor that will be a bolt in exchange is the orginal going when to a v-6 or v-8 the upper sterndrive for the 4 has a 2-1 ratio the 6 or 8 changes the ratio to allow the bigger motor to run a larger prop. anything can be done and the people her will help you do it but you really need to work out a dollar budget you fell good with because it would be very easy to spend more than than just finding a boat that has a drive package in it that that meets you power needs<br />good luck<br />tommays
