Re: ingition

serial number would help ..could be battery igniton ..magneto or CDI so we need to know wich....Battery ignition and CDI have a different switch to Magneto ....The magneto has two contacts marked M ...you can find a manual at .......https://rs895tl5.rapidshare.com/#!d...f|2409|R~B0B08DDCE6FB971DAE0A898350D89E8D|0|0 click on the download button below the blue television ....no charge or need to buy anything.
You can find diagrams of the switches here ..but even I find it a bit confusing picking the right one ..http://www.boatfix.com/how/switch.html

so it goes like this
B battery positive
S solenoid for electric start
I Igniton if its coil or CDI
A accessories
C choke if its electric ( push the key in to operate)
M M go to magneto to stop the engine..switces with this on do not have a I

Re: ingition

Well its certainly a 1975 ..if it has two HT cables comming out from under the flywheel its Magneto ( and two thin stop cables) If you have two coils mounted on the side its battery ignition with a coil ...Not 100% but think 75 is too early for CDI. Dont leave the igniton on as the coils get very hot and split ( epoxy ) and biggest problem is the flywheel comming loose,,breaking the key and then the timing ring rotates ...85 ft lb on the nut...I have locked my timing ring into place and have a seperate key for the flywheel ..so if it moves all keeps going .....let us know if you need more advice
