I have been reading the forums here and on other sites and see that there are many who can't stand the word Force while actual owners seem to be happy with them. I am trying to get this thing running to have some summer fun with the kids until I can put a Mercury in it's place. I need help with the model number. The tag on the transom mount has faded to where it is not readable. Is the number any where else? Also, does anyone know of a place that still has available parts? I need a new water pump!!!!! I'm not posting this to get a bunch of replies of how "Bad A Force Is," I need help from someone who knows. If you don't like a Force, please leave the Force Threads, lol!!

You still should be able to get most parts you need either on line or at your local Mercury dealer. You will not need a model number for a water pump. 89 and 90 used a Mercury type pump and impeller and a good dealer parts tech should know which one to order.

My only bad experience with the Force 150 is this: They used the same starter motor for 3, 4, and 5 cylinder engines. Cranking the 150 is marginal and if you don't have a high capacity battery, fully charged, she will have trouble turning over.

Thank You. So far she still turns over beautifully and runs great! I am working on getting the lower unit off right now. She has been sitting for 2 years so I am going through everything as well as replacing half of the floor in the Bayliner that it is sitting on! Thanks Again!

They actually have the wash out plate, and impeller at iboats.com. However, since you are already taking off the LU, you might as well at least take a physical look so you know when you order you have the right part although the part number can be verified from the link below: Note the water intake holes and it will tell you the type of impeller you will need and probably even the model number.

It looks like all of the motors from the 90 to the 150 all use the same gaskets and impellers. Thanks for the link!!

Actually, I believe even 85 HP uses the same impeller.
