Initial carb settings on sea king k750

So I have this little 12ft mirrocraft v-hull with a montgomery wards 7.5hp outboard motor on it. It's the k750 clinton essentially. I took her out for the maiden voyage last weekend and it ran OK at best. Under no load, the thing had no problem revving, but under load, it seemed it wasn?t able to even hit 1/2 the RPMs it could when in neutral. I attribute this to a couple of things...

1. I had the angle all wrong so it was trying to bury the nose instead of planing.

2. dirty carb, poor fuel mixture/ old gas? I changed the plug before I went out, so I know that was OK.

So, I took the motor apart. Put a new point and magneto on it, set the point gap to .020 as specified on the motor, pulled carb apart and gave it a good thorough cleaning. It is now reassembled, but I have a question on the needles...

WHICH ONE IS WHICH?!! What needle is the low speed and which one is the high speed? It has one needle on the main carb body, and one on the bottom of the float bowl.

Any help?

The bottom of the float bowl, would be main jet, so that would be for high speed adjustment and the main carb body would be the pilot jet or low speed adjustment.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Now, just to make sure I have the right info...

Set the low speed needle at 1+1/2 turns out and the high speed needle at 1+1/8 turns out. Adjust the throttle stop screw on the carburetor so that it just cushions the butterfly when the throttle valve goes closed. Sound about right?
