Inland Waterways Communication

Can anyone out there tell me if there’s a CB radio channel that is recommended for inland waterways? I assume there’s a marine equivalent to channel 19 that is used by the truckers and others on the nation’s roads.

The best way to go is get a VHF radio, hailing on channel 16. No locks or emergency services monitor CB with any consistancy.

What about for general talk, such as to tell the wife that I'll be back in 1/2 hour & to have a beer ready.
