Okay.... I followed all the great advice on adjusting the rocker arms and most of the rockers are just purrrrrring None seem to require more than a 1/4 of a turn
But there is one rocker all the way forward (#6 cylinder?) that still is tapping some, although not as bad as it was. I tried tightening down a tad more in order to totally quiet it but that didn't help.
I don't want to overtighten those rockers do I??
All in all the engine sounds and runs strong, all the rods (under the rocker arm) are twisting and turning and getting oil. In fact nothing in any of the rocker assemblies seems to be lacking oil, nor do they apppear fractured. And none of the rocker arms seems off-center or twisted.
Unless you guys advise otherewise, I figure I just have a rocker arm going bad and will just have to run the engine (not too hard) until it shows it's face?????????
Again thanks for all the help.
Skiph

Remove the rocker arm and the pushrod. Measure the pushrod. Check the underside of the rocker arm for wear.

There may be a rod that is slightly longer available.

Thanks DJ..... is there a danger of over-tightening these rocker arms?
I not thinking of one or two turns here... but, can a half turn too much cause real problems????
skiph

{QUOTE}If you're doing a Running Adjustment,
You Need between 3/4s,+ 1 full turn,
From 0 Clatter........

1/4 is Not Enough...........[/QB][/quote]
I did a non-running adjustment and then checked it running.
Still am not sure about the "over-tightening" concern?
When I check it running I cannot quite tell which rocker is making the noise.... and the darn noise seems to disappear when I take the cover off. But it is quite obvious when I put the cover back on?
Weird.
thanks,
skiph
