Ok so I was told something by someone at a marine store that I can't quite believe. So all of you're input is appreciated. Here's the story. I was on the boat the other day and had the bilge open and when I throttled it I noticed about 4 gallons of water rushing into the bilge from under the deck. Upon further inspection I realized that the battery tray in the bilge was open on the underneath leading directly to the rest of the hull. And I asked if this was normal for a center console boat. The guy at the boat store told me that it was normal, that the fish box drains directly to the hull and when the boat is on the trailer it would run out of the bilge. Does this sound correct or should I be worried about water in my hull?? The boat is a 96 seapro 21' center console with a 96 Johnson 150 oceanrunner.

Ayuh,... ALL of the area under the deck, Should have direct drainage into the bilge for pumping, or draining, Yes...

Wouldn't the water cause damage to the foam in the hull?

Only if it has foam. Being 21' it probably does not. Regardless I suggest that you get in there and make sure all the water is freely flowing into the bilge area where it can properly drain/ be pumped out.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. I'm sure the water that was in there had been there for a while. Boat hasn't been on water in about six months.

Well, IF you have foam, It might be WET now. Keep the boat tilted STERN Down, Plugs OUT, When stored.

I think you should have stated this in your first post...

Now lets talk about some stringer rebuilds ans stuff now ;) ....

That sucks. I wills let you know that when I tilted it stern down I had a bit of foam come into the bilge from under the deck. It's an orange color and resembles the spray foam that comes in a can. So I'm guessing that's not good.  any suggestions on looking at stringers under deck without cutting a large hole in floor?

I would seriously check out all of your through hull fittings first.. that much water coming in there with foam chunks into the bilge is not a good sign..

YD, i took your advice and checked all the thru hull fittings. all checked well. the fish box drains directly overboard, filled it up with water on both sides had good flow no obstructions. took out the rod storage lockers as well to visually inspect. all seems well. the only other thru hull is the livewell pump fitting. and its not leaking either. i think the water could be coming from me when i hose it down. going through the rod locker area. either the caulking around the deck or thru the holes for both ends of the poles..... this is only a guess but the only answer i can come up with. i drained about 3-4 gallons out of the hull and dont have any more coming out. so i think its my fault. i took boat out yesterday and kept it from plaining so i could get the nose up, no water anymore.... im going to keep an eye on it, but thats what i have so far. thanks again for all of your suggestions.
