Hi, I am finally ready to install the new aluminum gas tank in my 1987 Regal Ambassador. My question is whether the furring strips that the tank attaches to at the top with tabs weldined to the tank may be longer than the taabs themselves. They would extend downward. They are 2x4 in size running the lenght of the tank. Would this pose any issues with tank expansion etc.
Thanks Roman

Re: Instalation of Gas tank, finally

I don't know what happen to Roman,.....

I need a Better Discription to understand What he's Asking........

Is the tank being Hung from some Tabs welded at the Top ????
Is it Sitting ON Anything ???
How was the Old 1 Mounted ????
Is the New 1, Like the old 1 ?????

If it's just framed up with 2X4s, It Shouldn't be an Issue.........
The Largest Panels(Top,+ Bottom?) do most of the flexing..... And, A Properly Vented tank shouldn't have much flexing going on Anyway.........

Re: Instalation of Gas tank, finally

Sorry,
Yes the tank is being secured by tabs welded to the top of the tank. It sits on a hard floor on epoxy coated wood. The cavity is wider than the tank, so the 2x4s act as a place to secure the tabs at the top. The only other question, should I drop lines of 5200 on the floor before dropping in the tank. Thanks again Roman
