Install new engine, now engine WONT turn off with key??

Installed new engine this weekend ,starts and runs great but now when I turn key to "off" on dash the engine will not shut off... Any ideas guys?

It sounds as simple as your switch isn't wired correctly. Take the wires loose and use trial and error to figure out the right way to go. Good luck

before I installed new engine it shut off fine... since the new engine it doesnt work.. The switch hasnt been touched,

perhaps you didn't re-install the wire harness correctly on the new engine??

the purple wire controls the ignition circuit and is controlled by the key switch

I remember two purple wires going to coil.. one purple going to choke and one going to alternator.......

check the one going to the alternator, its possible you got it on the wrong stud and it is energizing the coil with the key off

Without knowing what you are working on makes it a bit tough to give useful information.
Could be as simple as the battery cable touching the outside small terminal on the starter solenoid.
That is if you have that type starter, and your starter is wired that way, for whatever type ignition you have.

I bet you are right on the purple wire being energized with key off, but which terminal does purple wire go on?

I had the orange and purple wires crossed..
