You all are going to love this one. Ok I purchased an old 1970 Stinger quite a few years ago with a dead 4 banger in it. I got the bright idea of installing a Honda Goldwing motor in place of the dead 4 banger. The conversion was pretty simple, only requiring a minor amount of modification to the lower deck and engine cover. The Goldwing by design has a transmission and I can select the gears to suit my needs. I dont know the gear rations, however i do know that 1st gear is super low, second gear is moderate and third gear seems to be the best all around gear for getting around the lake with a top speed of about 34 MPH. The fuel economy is out of this world. So, here are my questions. This weekend I was on the lake and my boat decided that it was not going to engage into forward drive. I tore apart all the linkage and tried to manually engage the drive to at least get back in. After a few hours of only hearing the drive clicking and trying to engage without any success, I discovered that if I brought the motor all the way up I could with great difficulty get the drive to engage (I dont know anything about outdrives.) I thought that as long as I did not disengage the outdrive that I would be fine. However after turning the motor off to fish in the marsh, I discovered that the outdrive was not engaged again. After about another hour of trying to force it back into gear. I managed to get it to engage once again. Why did it disengage when I turned the motor off and how do I fix this problem. The outdrive easily engages into reverse and I tried without any success to adjust the linkage. It was obvious that when I was trying to engage the outdrive that the cable was in all the way.

Thank you for any help that you could provide me on this. For my second question, assuming that i can correct my first problem, I would like to know what is the best pitch for my prop I should use with my very unique 5 speed Motorcycle motor install. The goldwing currently runs at about 78 to 81 horses and 3rd gear is the tallest gear it will push.

Thank you again.

Tracy
