The instructions makes some comments about jetting richer on the Johnson motors by .005". Is this recommended? or can adjustments be made? Thanks

Follow the instructions with the reeds.

Better reeds usually mean more air at higher velocities entering the cylinder. Without more fuel to mix with this air, you'll have a lean condition. Most reeds won't have a drastic affect, but again follow the Boyesen direction. :)

The main thing with Boyesens is to make sure the motor does not "sneeze" at idle. That will burn the reed tips. And only once may do it. The idle circuit is what they are most concerned with. On older motors that were calibrated for fuel of that era may have to have the idle circuit richened up slightly. If your motor was "sneezing" before then you may want to richen up the idle by .005 and you can fine tune it from there.

Also make sure you did not use the reed stops.

Keep us informed!

Can I just ask for .005" larger mains at my dealer, and they will know what I need? Or should I measure them?

I didn't use any of the factory stops. I used the three items that came in the pack. Reeds, stops, plate or rail. Is this correct?

Again, follow the directions :) . Some Boyesen reeds require that the factory reed stops be used, and for other applications they are not to be used. By what you described in your reed kit it would seem you did things right.

Remove the old (factory) jets from your carburetors. They will have the jet size stamped on them in very small print. Take note of which jet came from which carburetor because each carb may be different. Your dealer can go from there.
