So this is the first time I have restored a large boat and I was interested in running the same type of electrical outlets as in my home. How do I convert the power from my battery/alternator to 110v?
My boat has a very size able cabin and it would be nice to have some outlets around. Thanks in advance- Jordan

Re: Installing 110v in my boat

How big is this boat that it doesn't already have Shore Power in it?

It is a major undertaking to do correctly.
A lot of decisions need to be made before you start.

Are you considering installing a generator or an inverter?
How many watts are you thinking, and what appliances do you anticipate operating?
300 Watts? 6000 Watts? A Small TV? A Cabin Air Conditioner?
How big is the Budget? $500? $15,000?

Re: Installing 110v in my boat

I was wanting to run a little college refrigerator and only keep it on to get it to temperature and turn it off, basically just so I'm not limited to an ice cooler . The boat is a 23' custom build from 1979. I was wanting to run an inverter if at all possible. Other than that, maybe a lamp or small little tv. Just using the alternator power at idle?

With a generator.
