1986 140hp Evinrude

Discovered that the powerpack on my motor isn't the correct one!! I'm thinking that it got changed during troubleshooting at one of the marines I took it to a couple years ago. Hasn't been running quite right since.

I've now got the correct one and plan on installing it this weekend.

The powerpack has two sets of leads that have two connectors each (4 connectors in total). One lead obviously attaches to the two coils on the starboard side of engine, the other to the port coils.

My question is.....how do I know which lead goes to the starboard coils and which to the port? Does it make a difference?

My manual is four hours away with the boat, so I thought I better ask here in case it doesn't clarify it for me.

Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend!

Brew
