I recently purchased a 2007 Fish Hawk 1600 which did not come with a radio. Does anyone have any experience or advice for installing a radio for this model boat? There currently is no hole cut out in the counsel for the radio or holes for the speakers (installing 2 speakers).

Any best practices or tips for this type of installation would be appreciated. The local Crestliner dealer wants $110/hr to do the install and anticipates anywhere from 2.5-3.5 hours to complete.

Get a decent quality marine grade system. When you cut out the hole(s), make sure you tape off the area so you don't scratch it with the saw. If it's in an exposed location install a weather proof enclosure around the radio. Make sure it's easy to get to but not in the way if the baot takes a good wave so you or the passengers don't hit the knobs with knees, head, or elbows. Buy good quality wiring and most people hook up the power so you don't need the key on to operate the radio. Shrink wrap all wiring connections.
