I have a 1960 johnson 40 hp. when I got the engine, it didnt have any wiring to it. I built my own wiring harness. My question is how can I install a kill switch? Do I need to run wires from the points thru a swich to ground? Thanks in advance, Allen

Assuming you have a stop button wire a suitable kill swich in parallel with it.

Yup, the kill circuit basically shorts both sets of points together through a Normally Open switch. Run a single wire from each set of points to the switch.
