installing a prop 1984 120hp mercruiser i/o

I went to install my prop and I can't seem to get it on the shaft far enough, it hits that little fin when turning. I looked in my manual and it dont say very much about this subject. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I tried searching the web for instructions but I cant seem to find any.

Your hitting your trim tab. You can get differant design trim tabs to get rid of the problem or if it is close (mine was less that 1/4")use a file of a grinder and make clearance for the prop. The metal on the trim tab is made to act as an anode and has to be replaced over time. <br /><br />iboats has the differant design tabs listed in the shopping mall.<br /><br />Bob
