Hi all;

I just bought a boat with a 1991 Johson 90 2 stoke. It has no guages. How tough is it to retro fit a Tach? I mean at the motor end of course. Is there an FAQ here that I missed?

It also depends on what kind of controls you have. If you have the standard side mount OMC controls there is a three prong plug for a tach under the key. Simple, plug it in an go.

Thanks for the replies, if been off line for a while.

I have the standard side mount control and I see what looks like a three prong female plug there under the key. If the tach comes with a three pronged male plug, I'm all set. Is it really that easy?

No.... Well almost.

The tach will not come with the 3 prong cable You will need to get the cable then splice the cable to the tach. I don't know the pin out.

my standard controls do not have the plug, cables only...

I wonder if the switch has the correct wires?
