Re: installing above deck aluminum fuel tank

What kind of boat? I used to have a 30 ft house/patio boat. I drew up dimensions for a 42 gallon tank, to sit on the aft deck, had an aluminum sheet supplier shear the material. I got an aluminum gas cap with neck and had someone weld it up. I also had quartered baffles installed with thru passages cut at the bottom of the baffles.
This was back in the late 70's so I don't remember the cost but my recollection is that it wasn't to bad and I ended up with a tank that fit my requirements exactly.

Re: installing above deck aluminum fuel tank

i found a nice oval 18 to 20gal tank that was used on a pontoon.
it will fit nice rite in front of splash well.
the boat is a 18ft trophy w/a.
the internal 52gal needs to be replaced- but the hull has to be seperated. that will have to be another season project. tank has been flushed of fuel.
-
rite now just want to get boat in water before end of sept.
-
didnt know if there were any rules to follow.
i know it has to be fastened to hull, have a filler cap, vent & be grounded.
-
didnt want any suprizes if the boat polie came aboard. fines are stiff here in sc.
