Hello. Have an 87 Searay 17' Bowrider..I purchased a new steering cable for it..Instructions say to "thread engine end of cable back to transom"...yeah,thats about it..once I get it through wooden "trough" behind side panel that holds cabling/wiring there is not enough room in my transom area to bend cable to get it on through..Metal part of cable is 13-1/2"..I can only get about 9" through (without fear of ruining new cable). Is there a "trick" that I am missing here???..Thanks to Bondo for help on getting my old one out..I had to take apart my old cable metal end to expose cable so it could bend enough to get it out....Thanks for any help....Pete44

Re: Installing new steering cable

Hi Pete,.......

I don't knows as I can help much on this 1.......

As far as I know,... You Can't take the motor end apart,+ ever get it Back together,......
So,.....
If the Helm end is possible to take apart,.....
Try That,+ feed it up the gunnel Backwards......
Or,....
You Might Possibly have to do a little Cutting or Grinding, or Disassembling of Whatevers in the way,..
To find the space to get it Through ..........

Good Luck.....
