Installing pistons without ring compressor-Am I doing this correctly? 1985 75HP 4CYL

Can someone lead me in the right direction?

The bottom of every cylinder is beveled/chamfered about 1/8", so I'm having no problem installing the pistons into the cylinders. A lot of people are talking about breaking rings and using compressors when installing pistons, but mine seem to slip in with a little pressure on the rings with my fingers.

The block just came back from the machine shop with all of the correct measurements. Is there something I'm missing here? Or is the chamfer at the bottom of each cylinder making the pistons much easier to install?

Thanks.

The compressors are needed for models where the rod nuts are inaccessible once the crankshaft is assembled to the rods. Yours has rod bolts that are. Older models have the crankshaft/piston assemblies preassembled prior to installation into the block (clearly a design by an engineer that never picked up a wrench in his life or looked at an intelligently designed connecting rod.).
