We are installing a new Lowrance 332c on a 2001 Lund Explorer 1650SS. (here was no sonar/locator on tis boat). Everything I read says there is a possibility of electrical interference when power cable and/or transducer cable is run near existing electrical cable. How close is close - 2", 6", 1 foot? We want to run transducer thru existing cable pathways - from console back (bilge wiring, horn wiring, etc.) to battery. Also, can we run sonar power next to transducer cable or should that be separated? Again, seperated by what distance?

My fishing buddy runs the same boat and has no problem with the transducer cable running in the wire chase. The power wire will be just fine picking up power at the console and running the two feet or so the locator (assuming its mounted on the console). My boat is also set up that way and there is no problem whatsoever. The transducer cable is shielded so interference should not be a problem. What is a problem if the transducer has air bubbles passing over it when at speed. Mount it so there are not strakes or rivets that will cause turbunlence.

Welcome to the Board

I agree normally not much of a problem running cables in the same path. I would install and not worry about it unless you have a problem.

Sonar transducer and VHF antenna can interfeer but most of the time one go to the transom and one to the cab or Bow. Tachometer cable to your RPM guage can also intefeer but most of the time none of it is a problem.
