Installing timer base on new powerhead 115hp 1993

In process of installing a rebuilt powerhead on a 1993 115hp Rude. Have a rookie question. When installing the timer base, I can not find anything that insures the timer base is positioned properly. The factory manual just states to install the timer base. Is there a way to insure the timer base is oriented properly?

The arm where spark lever attaches goes out the side ...

Once you have the new timer base installed in place of the old base, the link arm which goes from the spark advance lever to the timer base will determine the timing-assuming you have not adjusted anything else.
