I am replacing the shift cable on a Mercruiser Alpha one and I also intend on replacing the upper shift shaft bushing while in there. I have purchased the new bushing - (which comes with both the upper and lower bushings. My lower seems okay so I will probably not mess with it... unless someone notes a good reason to do so
) - my question has to do with the actual installation. It seems pretty straightforward - knock the old out and press the new one in. Is this pretty much all there is to it? Anything to watch out for or any hints that I ought to be aware of?
