Good morning everyone here is my issue..... I have a 1986 Champion bass boat with a 175hp black max and the problem i am having is that the system does not seem to be putting adequate power back into the battery. I have noticed that when fishing at night when you run the nav lights the voltage drop down to about 9v or so and dont come back up nomatter what the rpm range is you are traveling and also while driving with a spot light and the nav lights on the spot light will go dim and voltage drops. Boat does not seem to be replenishing the voltage. The rectifier is new......have not replaced stator or trigger. what is a way to test. what do you guys think. any info would be great.

Thanks

Gary

Re: Insuficient charging

Put a volt meter on the battery and note voltage. Start her up on flusher and note voltage. Rev her up to 1500RPM and see if voltage goes up. If so, the charging system is working. If it is working, maybe you are simply using more current than the motor can provide.

Ok I will try that when it cools down a bit gonna be 116 today. This problem has been like this for a while but i remember that it didnt use to be like this as far as it use to run nav lights and spot light fine as it should. I also got to thinking that maybe I could have a bad ground somewhere......
