insurance denied

looking for info. on insurance deniels.Power head was blown due to over rev. after hitting something under the water. Insurance says can;t happen

It seems to me it should be pretty easy to have that happen. You hit a log and spun the rubber hub in the prop. Now the engine has no load and over-revs. Take a good look at the prop. If it's spun, I think you've got a pretty good claim.

I agree, it can happen. I did something similar this summer. I was trying out a composite prop and hit a submerged log, smashed off all the blades which sent my RPM through the roof. Fortunately the alarm went off and I pulled back... no damage to the engine, but try changing a prop in the middle of a busy channel in 3 foot swells. Anyway, my experience with insurance companies is that if they can find a way to deny a claim, they will. It's up to you to prove it. Good luck.
