I just recently bought my 1st boat from a friend and I want to keep it in the marina here in town that it's been at for 3years. The Marina Requires $500,000 liability insurance, my problem is I can't find anyone to insure me due to the fact I've never owned a boat b4. anyone know a company that will give me insurance in MA?

Re: insurance problem

Brian is correct. This is my first boat and I just insured it through Boatus. Good luck with the boat. ZR$

Re: insurance problem

Not sure how big, or what kind of boat you're talking about...but normally your typical car insurers would insure a boat. Who are your cars insured with? Also this might be a good opportunity to buy an Umbrella libaility policy that will put a $1M or $2M or $5M blanket liability coverage on your cars, home, AND boat for one very reasonable fee...this option is much easier to pull off if you have most of your things insured by the same company, but many umbrellas will cover multiple insurance companys' policies as long as you have the correct base limits.

Good luck...

Re: insurance problem

I insured my first boat without a problem. I just called my State Farm agent and gave her the dealer name and the agent took care of everything.
