I live in Michigan. 2 trustworthy, lifelong buddies and I own a 1980 36' Gibson houseboat in California. The boat will soon be registered in my name alone. I've never owned or insured a boat this size. Any recommendations on insurance companies? I'm 56 years old, have excellent credit and zero accidents on land or sea.

Many thanks for yr help, PW

Re: Insuring my Houseboat

There are only a handful of insurance companies that will insure boats over 29', especially in coastal locations. I use BoatUS for my 37' Carver. They had a complete plan, but insisted on a survey to agree on value and a comprehensive hurricane plan. You location my have additional or different requirements. Basically, get online and find companies that specialize in large boat insurance policies.
