Intake Air Filtration

Just curious as to why none of the two strokes I see have any type of air filter? Is it deemed not necessary as when you are out on the water there is not much particulate matter in the air?
Does anyone on here run any type of filter anyway?

Bingo!

Any stroke marine engine usually lacks air filters. About the closest you will get to one is the flame arrestor for an inboard/stern drive.
