Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of replacing my intake manifold gaskets on my OMC 5.0 FI (ford 5.0), Model #: 50FAPNCA. Unfortunately, the OMC/VP parts are obsolete.

The middle gasket (F2JL9439AA - not available anywhere) is the original. It covers the rear ports on the engine.

The top gasket is for a 1993 Ford Mustang. The bottom gasket is a Felpro 17360, which is a marine gasket with "cut-to-fit" features. The packaging specifically states it can be used for a 5.0FI. Neither of these gaskets block the rear ports.

I think this is OK??? The ports don't really go anywhere on the intake, but would really appreciate a thumbs up from someone who is more knowledgeable.

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Thanks,
Eric

The Felpro gasket fits early and late engines. The early engines had an extra bolt near the water port. The marine gasket would be better if you run raw water cooling. I am a journeyman auto and truck mechanic by trade.

Thanks Guys. The Sierra Gasket does not cover the rear port like the original gasket either. The ports don't feed much of anything on the intake. See yellow circle.

I think it will be fine to leave the port open, but please let me know if you have a reason why I shouldn't.

I choose the felpro gaskets over the sierra as I didn't like the idea of cork end seals. The rubber ones seem like a better solution, but the picture in my other thread might disprove this. The Felpro gasket with printoseal was recommend by a 5.0 guy "other gaskets require the intake to re-torqued a few times after the gasket is replaced." Who knows if he was just blowing smoke.

those ports appear to just be saving a couple tablespoons of aluminum. I think you'll be fine with either.
