Intake manifold question

Hi all, I recently found water in cylinder #6 (2001 Volvo Penta 4.3GL), and so hoped it was riser/exhaust gasket, replaced it, but still water came in 6.

Thinking blown cylinder head gasket or crack. Removed Intake to get into it, looks questionable on Intake gaskets. I am no mechanic, but many have suggested I could do this work, and I am mechanically inclined, so I am doing it.

My question is: From a visual of what I can see, the cylinder head gaskets look ok, but Intake gaskets look questionable for sure. Is it possible water got into cylinder 6 from bad Intake gaskets?

Please take a look at pics I posted here...

Re: Intake manifold question

I don't see anything suspicious about the intake gasket. You have to agree that is would be quite a way to travel for water to get from the coolant hole to the intake port of the head. Also, if it was leaking there the engine would most likely be sucking in air and the performance would be suffering. If you pull the head off, you should be able to identify the blown gasket. Other unfortunate choices are cracked head or cracked cylinder.

Re: Intake manifold question

Something is going on with that crusty intake port....:(
I'd say you have a cracked head.....
I'd pull it & see what condition the cylinder is in....
I doubt that your manifold/riser joint had anything to do with this....
No signs of water in the oil?.........
