Hi All,

My brother restores vintage LawnBoy mowers and we have noticed that some of the parts for the LawnBoys are exactly the same as some of the parts from the 2hp outboards...

For instance the starter pull handle for the 2hp outboards (311372 - (up to 1976)) is the exact same as what is on his 1972 Model 6275 LawnBoy.
The "Fuel Tank Spring" (605252) from the 2hp outboards is exactly the same as what he has on some of his mowers.

Is anyone aware of a resource that shows the interchangeable parts between the two brands?

TIA,
JG

Maybe some nuts and bolts. But since outboards and lawnmowers don't share a common purpose, it's highly doubtful.

Things like a rope pull handle and springs (and nuts and bolts) are just common parts bought off the shelf. J-E and LawnBoy didn't make those parts, just bought them.

The only meaningful parts shared between mowers and outboards are some ignition parts.

Of course you realize that Lawn Boy and Johnson/Evinrude are both OMC products. So....if the part numbers are the same, so is the part. Otherwise, no.

Yes, I realize that LawnBoy, Johnson/Evinrude are OMC.:joyous:

GA_Boater, that makes sense that they didn't make them, but purchased elsewhere; just like nowadays.

F_R, that's true I also noticed that ignition parts seem to be same/similar.

I was just curious if there was some kind of document that referenced identical parts between the two brands.

If it did exist, it wasnt published, and it most likely died in 1999 when OMC went poofffffff.f.....ppphhhfffffttttttt or a decade earlier when OMC sold Lawn Boy to Toro

as stated, at most, a few bits and baubles would be the same (common hardware)

BTW, Jack Boyle started what became Lawn Boy in 1946, it was purchased in 1952 by OMC Then moved in 63 to the Gale plant. Then about a decade prior to going bankrupt, OMC sold Lawnboy name to Toro. I believe that was 1988 or so.

I just got my 1967 ( I think ) Lawnboy running the other day.---Had been outside in the elements.-----Took the carburetor off and emptied carburetor bowl.----Took flywheel off cleaned points and checked spark.-----Put it together.---Filled tank.---Primed and it started on first pull.----Runs like it did in 1967.----Yes the ignition coil ( under the flywheel ) on some would be the same as those on the universal magneto.
