Hi Everyone,

I know this is a long-shot, but I was wondering if any of you (or someone you know) might be interested in being hired to take my wife and me out to teach us launching, boating around, and retrieving of our "new-to-us" 2005 Searay 240 Sundeck. I imagine it would take 1-2 hours. We live in northern San Diego, but will be in Orange County tomorrow morning; therefore, we were thinking that Lake Perris or Lake Elsinore would be convenient. Any takers?

Thank you,
Eric (Morgueman)

Sure, send me a plane ticket, lol. Glad your doing this man, not to many people would. Best way to learn imo. You can probably find a local captains club in your area or maybe a auxiliary coast guard guy that would be of service.

or the US Power Squadron could be an option too. there should be a local chapter in your area.

Lake Elsinore west marina is a perfect training ground. Lots of room on the ramp and lake, convenient parking, no hills to walk up/down, way less pressure form other boater for saying mean things for people taking their time, A few helpful understanding staff members if needed. No Quagga mussel inspection to worry about if your going to pass or fail like Perris due to water leaking out of your stern drive or water in the bilge area or on the carpet of the boat. They offer a high speed zone in the center of the lake/buoys. Also you must go 35 mph max counter clockwise around the center buoys.

Being October on a "weekend" is just that much nicer over all. On week days you can do pretty much what you want with hardly no one around to bug you.

Elsinore is the lake most of the local dealers go to train new customers, demo boat rides, test their service work, prop testing, things of that nature. Flat launch ramps. Should be less then $20.00 to get in, you may need to walk up to the office though to pay.

Lake Perris is none of that for training.

Good luck and enjoy your day.:)

Went to Lake Elsinore and had a great first experience with launching, boating, retrieving! Per Fun Times recommendation, we went to Lake Elsinore via Lake Elsinore West Marina. Kevin, in the office, spent 20-30 minutes helping my wife trailer the boat down the ramp. Couldn't have asked for a smoother intro to boating.

Very nice; almost experts you are.

Do you know where you'll be boating most? Salt or fresh water spots from where you live? San Diego has free ramps; can't remember what Oceanside might charge. Farther up this way into O.C., Newport Dunes will cost you the most on weekends--sometimes tough to find a spot to park larger trailers. Sunset Aquatic in H.B. is a little farther but much nicer to launch and park and only costs $12--this is where we launch the most even though it is a bit farther for us than Newport.

Enjoy:wave:
