being new to boating, i didnt bottom paint my boat. after two weeks of sitting in the water every inch of my boat (bottom) was coverd with barnacles. My boat would only go about 10 mph and it wouldnt even plane out. i took it to a beach and scraped every last barnacle off. it worked like a charm. now the weird part. I still havent been able to take the boat out of the water and it has been there for about a month and a half and guess what. no barnacles!! how does a boat get covered in two weeks and in two months not one barnacles. when i scraped the barnacles off they left a thin layer of whatever on my boat. feels like sandpaper. could it be that they cant stick to that. it is the time of season? Im wondering now if i should even bother going through the trouble of taking the boat out of the water and painting it if barnacles cant stick to whatever it is they left on the boattom of my boat. weird stuff
