This year, before putting the boat in the water I tried an experiment.... I coated the props (just the props) with Minwax Spray Polyurethane,.. a noticeable difference as to how much algae collected compared to the outdrives,...still some electrolysis on the edges, but the surfaces seem to benefit.... Me thinks this coming year outdrives are getting some Spray Poly as a final coat.

I should have mentioned that the boat went in the water in May, (fresh water, 40 miles north of brackish) ,... came out two days ago.(Nov)

Sure seem like you may be on to something there. Take some before and after shoots when you apply it to more areas for verification.

Unless you never used the boat you didn't prove much. See - props spin when you use them ;)

....and outdrives move through the water when used..kinda hard to collect algae when theyre moving.
I been spinning props for 40 yrs,.. I have nothing to 'prove' to you or anyone else,... just know that after service and paint, I WILL be spraying my outdrives with poly this season.

Well, all I can say is that the lower unit on my folks pontoon is always full of growth after the season and the prop isn't
