I have replaced some of the deck in my 1980 Glastron so now I need to put carpet back down. I have not decided if I'm going to use the old carpet, which is in great shape, or in I'll get new. I'm wondering if I need to sand down the surface of the existing plywood to get the old glue off or if I can just put new glue down and lay the carpet. I have waterproof carpet glue and am ready to go. Just not sure how to go about it. Thank you.

Re: Interior carpet question.

Your going to get the best results if you take off the old stuff first. It's much easier if you swab it down with acetone, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and scrape the goo off with a plastic putty knife. Just dont use anything with styrene in it or it will melt your hull.

Re: Interior carpet question.

Get as much of the glue you can off.And as long as the decking is free of dirt, oil, etc. and there are no lumps to show through when you lay the carpet, you should be ok
