being a newbie I took off a lot of gel coat above water line. A lot. So I filled everything in with duraglas Fiberglas filler. Sanded everything down nice and smooth. Can I just paint over with the interlude 2000e 2 part epoxy system. I know that I made a huge mistake, I don’t need any help reminding myself that I am a dumbass. What I need is constructive criticism please. Any help would be appreciated.

:welcome:

We won't call you a dumb___, it is against the forum rules :D

Can you give us a bit more perspective on what you were doing and what went wrong? The Interlux 'Interprotect' 2000E (if that is what you are referring to) is a barrier coat product and would not be something for a top coat.

Normally, if you remove gelcoat, you would replace with gelcoat.

Ok. This is a old lifeboat that will be used for fishing ect.. their was this big lip, like the top 12 inches of boat was laminated or something. So me being a nube decided to grind it down flush and try and feather it out, backfired. Big time. So I sanded it down and filled all the low spots with duraglas fibreglass filler. So basically the top 1.5 feet was damaged. I now want to paint over the duraglas filler with interlux 2000e to help waterproof it.(I damaged it to much to replace the gel coat) then paint over that with a top coat.

Since this is above the water line you want topside paint with some ultraviolet protection. Something like Brightside Polyurethane. Can even get flat and semi-gloss

As Ted said e2000 is barrier coat
