Intermittent starting

I have a 2006 40 HP E-tec,that starts when IT want to....some times I move the E-stop around,and it will start up,sometimes not...checked the harness as far back as the 1st connector and found nothing on my multimeter,same with the starter button...any ideas guys ? I don't have a wiring diagram so I'm hesitant to go any farther into the motor...Thump

Hi. You've veerified good solid shiny connections at battery and motor?

When you turn the key to the first position do you get a beep and the system check lights?
