Ok, now that a new modem router is installed and working at home (see post Personal Firewall settings and LAN ) I need to get the Propel brand internet accelerator supplied by ATT Worldnet to work through the router.

The problem is the accelerator can't validate that the PC is accelerated like it could when the PC had an internal modem. The Accelerator diagnostics indicat that the PC can't be valided as accelerated. With the modem on the router, two settings "host" and the port used to vaildate acceleration need to be set to the values "localhost" and "8080" respectivelly. The Propel help files list where the above settings need to be, but does not say how to make it work on the LAN. I have been reviewing the setup screens for the USR modem router and think that an "exception" can be set for access to port 8080. Tried that but the accelerator still does not work.

I called ATT Worldnet and they say that they don't support Worldnet internet service on a lan. But it's not actually Worldnet that is the issue, its the way the router handles the hosting and port numbers that needs to be changed (I think) so that it fools the accellerator into thinking there is only one user. Right?

Any of you LAN support guru's able to help me out?
