Re: Internet Accelerators.
they might help somewhat but if you can get cable or dsl get them. there is only so much information that a phone line can transfer. with the coax or fiberoptic lines the data transfer rate is much higher.

I was paying

$25 land line phone
$20 dial up service
$10 i think was what you are talking about
$15 other charges on my bill
----------------
$70

I could download at a MAX of 6.0 kilobytes per second.

Now i did away with all of that and got my internet service through my cable provider.

$29 cell phone
$39 cable isp
----------------
$68 total

I can now download at an average of 250-300 kilobytes per second. copared to the 6 with the dial up this is much!!!!! faster. Also the cable or dsl should be broadband, meaning you can run a network off of the line. having multiple computers online at the same time. I have a router hooked up, i run my two PC's directly with the ethernet cables and use my wireless network card to run my laptop. I can be out at the garage working on my boat and asking questions here at this site at the same time with the wireless capability of the laptop.

But all of this is useless to you if you are in a place that dialup is the only option. My mother lives out in the sticks and that is her problem.
