I have a 1984 Searay cabin cruiser. I have a 5.7 Chevy engine with a OMC stringer outdrive. I am trying to pick up a couple of extra horsepower by adding a HEI distributor. I ran a 12 hot wire straight from the ignition switch to the distributor.
Question?do I need to wire up my interrupter switch? If so how do I do it?

Re: Interrupter switch

If that is an automotive HEI distributor with the coil in the cap, forget it. DO NOT use an automotive distributor in a marine engine. Not only are they not spark protected, they have the wrong advance characteristics.
