intruder 175 tell tale water very hot after water pump change

hello guys since no records of a water pump change on the two outboards i bought las summer ,i did change the water pumps and the 15 hp jonhson is great . the intruder 175 is pumping great the pressure at fast idle and idle is better than before (16 pds at idle ) but i do not remember the water being this hot and not long after it started ,what did i do wrong ? it was running great when i started it the first time last week but needed to be shure of the pump wich was good by the way ,probably had the impellor changed but some marks on the plate and cup so i put in a complete kit .one thing i forgot to mention the exaust housing seal was a bit dammaged and i think i installed it right but it was not easy could that be the problem ?
