Newbie boater here. Just bought an Invader bowrider with Mercruiser 3.0 carb. Can anyone tell me what size the onboard fuel tank is? What kind of fuel mileage can I expect with this? Thanks in advance.

Won't know the tank size without knowing the year and model. Somewhere on the interwebs you can find an original brochure that will tell you. And as far as fuel mileage, approx 10.5 GPH/ WOT for a 3.0L .. Boats are thirsty

there are some brochures on Ebay. not for the right year, but should get you close

However a 17'-18' boat will probably have a 20-25 gallon tank

Your boat motor in good state of tune will burn 0.4#/HP/hr

I have an 88 Invader 181. Has been a great boat It is powered with a Merc 3.0 and an Alpha 1 drive I want to say it is somewhere in the 24 gallon range. Has been a long time since I filled her ALL the way up as I usually get gas on the way to the lake and whenever I stop at the marina.

I have run her 50 miles in a day before with great results and had plenty of gas to run back to the marina several miles away the next day. I have run her on long weekends without fueling up however we were not running her long distances. I believe the most I ever put in her after first purchasing her was about 13 gallons in one single run.

Sadly she is in need of being rebuilt as she has a rotten transom and the floor has collapsed over the fuel tank. She has been a great boat we do love her. She is one of those fiberglass over plywood boats that you can never seem to keep the water out of after they get to a certain point. The hull however is solid as a rock.

I bought her used over 10 years ago for a song. Had her maintained regularly doing a lot of the regular stuff myself. Never had a serious issue with her. She never left me stranded and never needed a tow. She tows a skier and a tube just fine and tops out at about 37 mph..

I am going to look at an used 2002 chaparral 220 SSI tomorrow. She looks rough but the price is right, she runs and is solid. A buddy of mine gave me a free SeaRay Seville 210 that is in need of a complete rebuild.
