Went to the company Christmas party today in The Oak Cliff area of Dallas. Midday, popular restauraunt, busy with cameras in the parking lot. Has co-workers filed in they told me my passenger window was broken out..sure enough glass all over and my cheesy $40 radio/CD player yanked out. They left behind some small hand tools my check book and CD's luckily but still....I would rather have the window.

Checked the camera shots, I managed to park just out of frame-nothing. The manager said the only people they catch on camera is "white folks" that come from other parts of town to steal stuff, the kids in the neighborhood know the camera locations apparently.
The whole situations has me irritated and (cold) and the apparent "normalcy" of this kind of thing still manages to surprise me.

Re: Irritated

That cannot draw enough vacuum! But it really is 'the norm'. We can blame it on governemntal controls, including those controls imposed on parenting.
Hoever, it only STARTS there, and continues with government schools, video games, movies and media creating new definitions of what "normal morality" is.
It still draws vacuum tho.

You had better look closely at your checkbook. They only need one, or just the account number.

Texoma:My brother tried that aproach in Arlington Tx at a bowling alley. Didnt work they stole his Dodge one ton.(no the keys werent in it) He had just paid for it and droped his full coverage back to liability. Hel- of it was he replaced it and 2 months later the DPS recovered it in Laredo, It was abandoned and out of fuel. It had been traveling back and forth across the border the whole time and was never caught. (talk about homeland security) $300 dollars to release from Impound and $600 to haul it back to central Tx.

Re: Irritated

I laugh at the irony of my own attitudes. They thankfuly skipped my check book but Im a little offended that the rack of Snap On Sockets and my 14" Craftsman channel lock plairs wasnt worth their time.
I also stopped to realize I have more patience with bank robbers and other big $ thieves than I do with petty theft.
I think from now on I leave the doors unlocked and not keep anything valuable or attractive in my truck. If they want somthing take it, but dont break stuff to get it.

Re: Irritated

When I lived/worked in NY we used to leave a roll of dimes near the radio. (now I would almost upgrade to quarters) Most junkies and kids are only going to get maybe $5 for the cheesy radio so cut out the middle man. Let them break the window (replacable from insurance) and hopefully they will not harm the dash.
