is 150 hp too much for my boat

I have an older boat, 1963 Mark Twain, it is rated for up to 150 hp. But being as old as it is, I have my reservations. The motor that is in it right now is a '63 75 hp Johnson. I am looking at an '85 150 hp rude. Would that be too much motor for my boat or would it be OK?

Howdy, WS.<br /><br />If your boat is rated for 150 and the transom is in good shape I don't see any reason not to put 150 on it.<br /><br />Good luck.
