Is a 1980 115hp lower compatable with 1988 88hp

Hi, This is my first post. Could anyone tell me whether or not I can install a 1980 lower end from a 115 hp evinrude ( model unknown) onto a 1988 88hp Johnson, model # J88MSLCC. The driveshaft lenths are the same, 21.75".

Welcome!!<br /><br />Youre good to go. Same unit basically. Just use the 1988 shift rod height. It may be the same anyway.
