Is a 1970 35 hp Chrysler?s Leg dropped enough on a transom saver to be drained winterized (attached)? There were no signs of L/U water invasion or oil leaks at the start of the 5 short fishing trip seasons.

1. I?ll ck L/U for water again since the motor and boat has been so nice to me since 1985.
2. We are on stands with tires covered to help save the tires.
3. I did not run the carb Bone Dry after years of Stabil use and satisfaction.
4. I have charged the Batt and stored in a recessed patio closet due to it's not a charging system.

What did I miss or you would suggest toward winterizing ?The Monster??

Take the transom saver off .
Leave it in the straight up and down position.
Tank full.
Change/check gear oil.
You already mentioned Stabil.
That's all I'd do.

Since that engine does not have a thru-prop exhaust, there is no way for water to get into the lower unit, freeze, and crack it. SO: You can leave it as-is or drop it. Maybe put a little duct tape over the water intakes for safety if you leave it tilted.
