I've got a Hurricane SunDeck 210 with a Mercruiser 4.3MPI, 220HP and 1.62 gear ratio. We do lots of tubing and riding with heavy loads (5 kids and 4 adults). Is a HighFive a good idea for me to get good low and mid range power for these type uses?

The high five would be great for your needs....I have one, its a 17p which is too low....I need a 19 but when the boats loaded down it's a stump puller....You won't be dissapointed. Just be sure you get one that is perfect for your normal load in the boat.....etc. Prop it for the 9 people in the boat, it will over rev when you only have a couple people in the boat so keep the prop you have now to switch back too.

Thanks. If you want to buy a 19 you can order one from Murphy's prop shop in Norfolk, VA. I just bought a reworked 19 pitch HighFive from them that looks like new for $350. I ordered it on Tuesday and had it Wednesday through UPS. I spoke to Jeff there and he said if the prop didn't work send it back and we'd keep trying until I got the right one. The only cost to me would be return shipping charges.

The High Five would be a great fit for your needs. FWIW Quicksilver (the cheaper Merc props) now has the high five but they call it the QST5, going price for a new HighFive is 470, for a QST5 is 380. There are at least 3 versions of the merc HighFive, the part number for the new one is 48-815758-A46 (19"). With the A46 the version number.

A46 Flo-Torq II hub system and PVS-equipped (plactic vent holes)
A45 Flo-Torq II hub system and PVS for 23" and up
A44... ??

The PVS system is sorta cool plastic vent plugs that come in 4 sizes, no- hole, small, med and large vent holes. The vents can help with hole-shot.

For some good info on props http://www.stingrayboats.com/products/faq/prop_faq.html

Dave

ps: the high five they are talking about is the A45 version
