I have a 03 Glastron SX195 with 4.3L I/O. Would one of these stabilizer help at all with fuel mileage while cruising or are they just for take off? Thanks

I had one of those foils that mount on the O/B cavitation plate. When the boat was on plane, it was still in the water. Slowed me down quite a bit..extra drag. Didn't notice any other benefits. Mine is a 18" trihull with a 115. I took it off.

No, its not worth the money. It has one advantage, it helps you plane at a lower speed.

Then... it drags in the water, most of the time people report getting worse economy. It lifts the center of the boat, which at higher speeds can cause stability issues, especially in rough water. It also puts stress on your lower unit.

The Smart tabs area better option, I had them on my previous boat and they did everythign as advertised, and Nauticus is a great company to deal with. When mounted as in the picture above, they actually improve stability at speed, improve rough water ride comfort, reduce fuel consumption, and plane at lower speeds, which means quicker acceleration. Great for pullign toys.
