Is a Mercruiser 160 an oddball?

I bought a box full of Mercruiser manuals at an auction sale the other day because one of them said something like "GM 4 and 6 cyl engines". I've got a 69 Formula F-190 with a Merc 160 so I thought I'd done good. Then upon further inspection, there is no mention of a 160 in the book. It has 120, 140 and 165 but no 160. Even though they are 4 cyls, the wiring diagram it shows for the 120 and 140 look more like my 160 than the diagram for the 165. What gives?

I don't have it here with me but I think it did say no. 3 on it. I didn't notice the years covered.
oh well...the whole box was only 10 bucks. Some of them were still wrapped in plastic. Anybody need one for a diesel?

thanks Don S.

I believe the 160 was produced from 1967-1969. Ive got a 165 merc in my 1974 23 seabird and I had a terrible time finding parts for the manifold till I found that the manifold was off of a 160 hp. It is a aluminum 4 pc manifold. No longer in production

I'll probably hang onto the ones pertaining to the older GM gas engines. I'll probably never need :
Number 19-Marine Engines V-8 Diesel
Number 20-Blackhawk Stern Drive (2 copies)
Number 27-Marine Engines V-8 Diesel D7.3l D-tronic
Number 23 Supplement-Marine Fuel Injection 454 & 502
Number 25-GM 4.3L V-6 (printed 1997)
Number 25-GM 4.3L V-6 (printed 1999, seems to be several pages thicker than the 97 one)
Number 27 Supplement-D7.3L D-Tronic & D7.3L D-Tronic LD
210/240 HP M2 Jet Drive
They're all in great shape, not a greasy fingerprint to be found, with some still wrapped in plastic.
There was also a 2000 Yamaha Marine Tune-up Specs book...along with 5 wheel bearing sets and a Fulton coupler repair kit hiding in the bottom of the box.
I love auction sales but I always carry home too much junk.

If I might explain the differences in manual 25.
Mercruiser sends out service bulletins to update manuals unless there is a LOT of changes to be made. Then they just come out with a different manual. That is the case with the 25. There was lots left out of the original version. So they just sent out a new manual.
The 24 manual (same year engines as 25 only for V8) was an inch thicker.
Dealers just throw away the old manuals when the new ones arrive.
